What a prec ious and remarkable 2010! First and foremost, I personally want to thank God for everything He has put me through this year with a great bunch of passionate people. Secondly, I want to take this opportunity to thank every single one for your unwavering support especially to our executive committee who have done such a wonderful job this year. Your special effort, sacrificial hearts, sharing and outstanding talents have had a profound effect on CCM. Every single event held this year has proven the personal qualities you have invested and making CCM a success - 3 in 1 Saturday, Mossaic Sunday, Amazing G-race, Creative Unity, Campus Evangelism and Lifegroups. Daniel Two had many exciting life groups with themes such as Show N' Tell Talent Show, Live to Worship Night, Pizza and Friends Night, Unidus Now It's Happening, and Post Exam Bash. Many heart-warming surprise birthday celebrations were held during and outside life groups for many individuals. We also had a great weekend day out at Redcliffe beach, which was a beautiful, joyful, and relaxing experience.

As for the young and vibrant bunch of Daniel Three, we had different awesome events going on through this semester such as Oscar Night, MPG Night and Worship Night. We ended up this semester by spending a wonderful night near Kurilpa Bridge after our final exam. We had sizzling BBQ for our dinner, wonderful games and of course a heart-warming fellowship fellowship in the winter. AWESOME!

They’ve already plotted an escape to Captain Logan Camp, Lake Wivenhoe for a 3-day and 2 nights hardcore camping trip in the chilling winter breeze! Don’t get us wrong, it’s not a luxurious cabin camp – it’s the REAL thing: real tents, sleeping bags, campfire, cooking over the fire and yes, fishing your own dinner at the river. No comfy blankets, no heaters, no Internet, no Facebooking but lots of heart-warming fellowship, cuddling in the cold and late night songs by the campfire!

Lifegroups lately

Recently, CCM has held Special Lifegroups. There was Movie, Pizza & Games Night and Show & Tell Night. Groups of CCM members gathered together with friends and food. One group watched an exciting movie that had not been shown in the cinemas over pizza, and played games. Another group had everyone to tell a story about themselves, with something to 'show' for it as well. Oceania Convention 2010

Another spectacular Oceania Convention that was thoroughly enjoyed and touched many lives, CCM QUT members headed down to the Gold Coast over the Easter weekend this year (2-5 April 2010), as all Hope Australia churches came together to experience God's presence.

This year the theme was Ethos -- Rediscovering our Core Values. Three amazing days of drama, dance, singing, worship, prayer, workshops, and sermonds were held at the multi-award winning Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Lessons were taught on living out core values and being a positive impact amongst our surroundings. Together with hope church members and friends around the Oceania region, we praised and worshipped God and learned from His word.

Do join us next year again in Easter 2011, at Philip island, Victoria, Australia. (Southeast of Melbourne).

Lifehouse's Everything played in the background as a touching drama skit was acted out -- based on a girl who was drowned in worldly ways and wanted to kill herself, but was eventually saved by Christ. Mosaic Sunday, which was held at Queensland University of Technology's Kelvin Grove F-block, was a refreshing experience to the new comers as well as the old timers. The spectacular night ended with an engaging talk by Hope Brisbane's very own Pastor Wen'an.

CCM QUT kicked off the first 2010 school semester with an awesome 3-in-1 Saturday. What started off as a tour around Brisbane city, led to a sizzling delicious barbecue held at New Farm. More than 80 CCM QUT members and their friends gathered together for this fun-filled eventful day and enjoyed bonding through the city tour, over the barbecue, and eventually games. What more to say -- we had a blast!

Multicultural Fiesta

As lively beats were dropped, and filled the hall and the excited hearts of the audience, West African Dance Troupes took the stage and mesmerised all with every shake of their hips. Multicultural Fiesta 2009 was crowded with a myriad of dazzling costumes that overflowed the theatre, as people dressed up in outfits which represented cultures from all over the world. A packed programme event that never lost the interest of onlookers: with participants who joyfully participated in games such as, Fastest-hat-first; dances and music which ranged from exotic Islander dances, multicultural dance, and African drums music that captivated all; and our very own amusing and spontaneous pair of emcees, Chris and Sisi -- this year's Multicultural Fiesta was a definite ace success. The collaborative effort between Campus Christian Movement Brisbane, Hope Brisbane Club, and Hope Brisbane Christian Church was triumphant one. Also great thanks to QUT Student Guild for sponsoring venue on that night.

Band of Brothers and Simply Women:

Band of Brothers and Simply Women took place over the last weekend of August (Saturday, 29 August -- Sunday, 30 August). The Ladies had fulfilling sessions of learning how to be Godly Women, having the confidence in life from Jesus, and how to either dance, defend themselves, give the best massages, or do their hair and make-up. While the guys had a fun time of learning how to be Champions of God, and conquering Mount Coot-tha through team-building activities, such as tree-climbing and tent-making. Both genders ended the weekend feeling more empowered and encouraged.

UNI-T lunch:

A time when people come together to get to know each other better, UNI-T lunch is held twice a week throughout the semester. These exhilarating and refreshing times happen at QUT's student refractory from 11.30AM to 1PM, on Mondays at QUT Gardens Point Y-block and Wednesdays at QUT Kelvin Grove C-block. It is an opportune moment to bring friends and to make friends, while having a hearty meal.

Life group:

When wondering what to do on a free Thursday or Friday night, there is no need to think too hard; there is always Life group to go to. Another weekly opportunity to join in, have fun and good fellowship, learn the word and purpose of God, and experience Him, all takes place from 6PM to 9PM at different locations. This is another good chance to bring friends for them to make friends, and for everyone to strengthen friendships with one another; all with dinner included.

Hello,everyone,my name is Tracy,I am studying nutrition in QUT. I am from China and I am from Daniel 3. I accepted Christ in march this year in hope Brisbane Christian church.

I think god has done a lot of amazing work on me, I feel like my mind is changing and life is changing as well. The most obvious two areas are study and emotion.I will talk about study first. When I was in china, I studied in the top high school in our city,which means the incredible stress and pressure. I tried hard,I spent almost all the time on study, I read the history book during lunch time and spent a lot sleeping time to memorize those philosophy theories. Those time was so stressful I just don’t want to continue. I know that I am not a smart person so I just spent more time on it. I believed I can do it only if I study hard. At the same time ,I am really jealous people who slept on class,play games all day and didn’t finish their homeworks but still got very good marks. I felt angry that is unfair. But I ignore that how proud were I that I thought I can do everything by myself. I couldnt find the balance of my own life. I felt exhausted and the huge stress made me cannot breath, I just wanna quit, I gave up and admit that I am a failure. this is how my study life was before I know god. And now, I study hard and pray hard as well I hope god can help me with my study. for my first semester result, there is a really tough subject called anatomy, because there are so many words I cannot even read it but I have to memorised them, I was a arts student, it is not easy to involve myself into science area. It is amazing that I got exactly 50% to pass this subject and got gpa 5 in total for this semester. I knew it is not a proud ale marks ,but gods mercy is enough for me, I found balance and peaceful in gods.

In terms of emotion,I had some wrong thought about marriage. I thought that there is no need to have marriage, because it is impossible to get together with one person for whole life. Why not just live with someone and break up if there is no feeling any more. I didn’t mind to be a single mum if I am financial independent. I can do it by myself. This is what other people do in this society. maybe this is the life should be. Live without pressure and responsibility. It is ideal life. Anyway this is what I thought before. But after I accept Christ, I found security in god and I realized that life is not just about have fun. Some opinion and action in this society most people do, it seems like right, but it is not that way. Why I should follow the wrong instead of truth, why I should do something just as most people do. god want us to have Godly family,I don’t want to listen to the wrong opinion in the society.I appreciate god changed my mind that I will follow the truth, follow his plan.

I was a non believer, when I was in China,I knew almost nothing about god, I just knew that the man called Jesus is the god for western people, nothing to do with eastern people. But in bible(Jeremiah 29:14)I will be found by you and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile. I really appreciate god draw me back, he is so merciful that he forgive me sin and draw me back. Look back the short but amazing journey, I got water baptise in Melbourn during OC, that the first time I really touched by holy spirit, I began to cry, all the things happened in the past emergent in my brain like a movie. Those are something I thought I don’t care or I already forgot actually I just hide it in my heart try not to touch it. After the leader pray for me, I felt the real freedom, relax and easy. And then I decided to follow god and promise him I will follow his plan instead of my own will. After that, I got holy spirit baptise during church conference and pastor Wilson prayed for me, I feel so blessed. Actually in the beginning, I didn’t believed in speak in tongue.I can be a mute in heaven ,I don’t mind. However,after holy spirit baptize I felt that speak in tongue is not decided by ourselves, it is natural thing to do. give faith to god and just release the power of god.
at the same time, I felt struggle whether should I devoted all my life to god or just be a partly Christian? As I grow in god, I feel kind of burden and stress, because there is responsibilities as well. Especially when my shepherd told me to help coordinate the food during the uni-advance. i don’t want to but I know what I can do is obedient. But I am not that activate in the first, my leader she did almost everything for our group and what I did is just discuss with her and suggest that how about we change spring onion to onion, is cheaper. Because I am not sure should I involve myself too much into serving people and god, I just want to go to church and lifegroup regularly, that’s all I want to do. during the uni-advance, holy spirit touched me again, I realized that I cannot live without him. My life changed so much because of his selfless love. And I do want to serve people instead of just thinking about myself. I don’t want to be a selfish person, i don’t want disappointed him.

What god has done to me is so amazing, I want to encourage non believers and young believers to soften your hearts and have faith in god, life will be different. Especially people from China, because we don’t have Christian background, why not open our heart to seek the truth ourselves instead of listen to others told us what is the truth. This journey is so amazing, and the destination is eternal life.

Multicultural Fiesta 2009

Multicultural Fiesta 2009 - Sunday, 2 August.
Five... Four... Three... Two... One... And Muticultural Fiesta 2009 started off with a Bang! Rhythm and music filled the hall of QUT Kelvin Grove Campus's Block-F 509, as lights danced mesmerisingly.

The crowd was a myriad dazzling costumes that overflowed the theatre. People dressed up in outfits which represented cultures all over the world; Campus Christian Movement (CCM), Hope Brisbane Club (HBC), and Hope Brisbane Christian Church (HBCC) must have been proud of the success of their efforts.

Months of planning this event had turned into a day of fun and laughter for their active audience. Participants and onlookers enjoyed the games organised, such as Fastest Hat First, as well as the amusing and spontaneous pair of emcees -- Chris and Sisi . Exotic dances and music, not just by our very own Hope Brisbane Christian Church's band, but by the West African Dance troupes: captivated and inspired all with every shake of their hips.

Raymond Chan, CCM's Daniel 1 leader says that Multicultural Fiesta 2009 had been the best even that CCM, HBC, and HBCC had done, so far.

"[Multicultural Fiesta 2009] was just very professionally done," he says.
"The emcees were funny,
"And [it was a packed programme that] could just sustain people for two hours without them finding it too long.
"Every bit was important and good."
It was a spectacular night! Kudos to those who've worked so hard to make this event stellar, and to all who missed out on the ball of the time, we hope to see you next year!

What a fruitful easter break ...
Every year, Hope Oceania gathers together at this annual event to lay another block in the foundation we have in Jesus Christ. This year, Oceania Convention took place at Melbourne, Philip Island, also renowned home of Australia's most popular natural wildlife attraction. This event had lots of teaching and lots of fun to begin to put into practice what you have learned and it need not stop there.

"Oceania Convention was phenomenal! Honestly speaking I was quite reluctant to join OC when I was first told about it, as I’m new to Hope Church and due to costs, air tickets, etc. But thank God at His right timing the door was opened that I embarked on this stupendous journey. During OC, I truly experienced the refiner’s fire of God, consuming and consecrating my life inside out that I felt like a sparkly clean-washed glass, ready for a fresh new outpouring of the spirit. Then, God poured out His spring of living water, filling us afresh in His saturated presence. By His power, God released His prophetic and proceeding word that I’m propagated into what He has in store for me in this land. Once again, I am thoroughly renewed to progressively attain spiritual maturity on this equipping path unto Kingdom destiny, and empowered to accomplish the plans and purposes of God in this nation!"

Be Content in Him Not Ourselves
With much expectation, I was right there in Oceania Convention (OC) 2009, being in the presence of our Holy God, praising Him, worshiping Him, speaking to Him and waiting upon Him. At the beginning, I was somewhat disappointed because I didn’t see much of miracles on the first day. However, God brought me to the realization that He doesn’t perform miracles just to show off and seeing miracles should not be my main focus. The question is whether I love Him purely because of who He is?

Surely the answer is yes, I repented before Him and came to understand our holy discontentment shall be towards ourselves, for example, not to be satisfied of our growth in God, but be content in Him. Through this OC, God opened my spiritual ears to hear from Him that He laid a burden in my heart to pray for the gift of healing. During the altar call, when I was praying for that gift, I heard a sister crying behind me, I thought that might be a sign from God. I went to her and asked her whether she needed a prayer for healing; discouragement came with the answer of “NO”. I didn’t stop there, I went down to the altar call on the next day, and continued to pray, another sister happened to cry aloud beside me, God gently spoke to me: “Ting, go.” But my feet seemed sticking to the ground because of that previous incident.

However, God encouraged me through a prayer offered by a sister saying that: although you feel you are inadequate, but if you choose to do God’s work, He will empower you and I remembered what Romans 8:11 says: And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” I know God was speaking to me, but I couldn’t move due to the fear of rejection.

At this time, the sister who were crying beside me suddenly came to me and put my hand upon her shoulder and asked for healing without any introduction of herself (we don’t know each other). By faith, I prayed for her, she had pinprick feelings for several times, praise God she got healed after I prayed for her. We ended up hugging each other with tears on our faces. Later on, she explained to me, she was hoping that someone could pray for her injured shoulder, but her group mates were all gone and she pleaded God to have someone to pray for healing, then God simply told her to go to the girl beside her (that is me). I want to give thanks to God for His great encouragement. Knowing Him more and more through this journey with Him is the source of happiness, contentment, joy, peace and excitement. Our living God is indeed awesome!

This year's OC was thee best convention for me and I would definitely claim this one to be my OC! Because my very first OC was at Melbourne (07) and that was ok, but at that time I was a new believer and wasn’t too sure what was going on. However, I was amazed to see our pastors receive prophetic words from God. After that was Contextualised convention in Brissy where I only attended the Sunday service. I’m so glad that I went to this years it was worth every penny and I got so much out of it!

I personally felt and believed that I was touched by the holy spirit. It happened on Saturday, where people had the opportunity to go up to the alter call and receive prayer, but I stayed back standing in left centre of the hall just praying and worshiping God. As I was worshiping I felt this overwhelming emotion inside of me and so I eventually wept. Still embarrassed of myself I sat down and buried my face in my arms in shame, at the same time dabbing my eyes to dry them. I must have went through a lot tissues that night. If you know me you have realised by now that it is a common trend for me to cry whenever I feel touched by God or something that really touches my heart. I consider myself emotionally person, but I can be strong and sensitive character altogether - I mean I like action movies, and do martial arts; that's got to count for something haha. Crying is just one way of being touched. You can be touched by receiving a word from God, or speaking in tongues, seeing a vision etc.

The second highlight was receiving a prophetic word twice - amazing huh? The first leader who prayed over me saw a vision of a seed in a ground, then growing into a tree which bears fruit. He was prophesying that I need to have a strong passion for the God's Word. Prior to that I’ve been praying hard to have more wisdom and growth. What’s hindering me is that, truth be told, I don’t spend a lot of time with God and go deep into His word.

He gave me this verse: Psalm 1: 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Armor bearer
The second vision from another leaderwas that he saw a soldier of God. He prophesied I should be strong and courageous like how David become victorious over Goliath. Not to fear, not back away and to be ashamed of the Gospel because God is with you every step of the way!

Thank God I went to OC! I can safely say I’ve been transformed, renewed, re-committed, refreshed. The only thing now is to faithfully stay in the light and stay out of darkness
